Underwater Explorers - UK ( SAA 1025 )

History:

In November 2001, a group of active divers based in Britain who believe in promoting the "DIR holistic approach to diving" came together to found the first formal DIR club in the country.  Divers came from the DIR-UK diving team/list and from the DIS-UK internet forum/list.

As of December 1, 2001, Underwater Explorers - UK ( UE-UK ) was recognised by the Sub Aqua Association as Club #1025. The Club has a dedicated list DIRBritain and held its first AGM in March 2002.

Membership Fee:

£10 per-annum in addition to SAA/BSAC/DAN or relevant other annual fees paid by the diver. Insured divers through agencies may join at only £10 while divers who want to crossover to the SAA may do so at SAA membership fees.

Club Objectives:

  • To promote the ‘Doing It Right’ holistic approach to diving.
  • To organise safe and enjoyable SCUBA diving activities for Club Members.
  • To provide training in SCUBA diving and associated skills for Club Members.
  • To organise research and expedition projects for Club Members.
  • To organise social events and meetings.

Minimum Membership Requirements:

  • Minimum qualification: SAA Club Diver ( or equivalent e.g. CMAS 2* or PADI Rescue Diver. )
  • Minimum age 18.
  • Minimum level: Nitrox Diver ( by a recognised agency )
  • Be an SAA Oxygen Administrator / Provider ( or equivalent )
  • Be proposed by at least one current Club member.
  • Submit a signed current medical form.
